The Old Station House is situated in what was the station yard at Bridge of Dee. Situated in the Scottish countryside, 11 minutes from Castle Douglas, offering rooms with free Wi-Fi and free parking. Although the station closed in 1947 and the last trains passed through in the early 1960s there are still a number of original features of the old station. Ideally located for golf fishing mountain biking or just soaking up the atmosphere of this lovely unspoilt corner of Scotland. Castle Douglas Golf Club is 7 minutes’ drive from the property. Shops, amenities, and restaurants are found in Castle Douglas, 5 minutes’ drive away. MacLellan’s Castle and the estuary of River Dee are 7 miles from the property. The accommodation in the house consists of two beautifully appointed double rooms with all the extras you would expect, both have king sized beds, flat-screen TV, WiFi access, tea / coffee facilities and hairdryer. Guests have the exclusive use of our large conservatory which enjoys stunning views over the local countryside. In the garden there is a tastefully converted 1957 railway carriage which is available on a B&B or self catering basis. The carriage is suitable for up to 6 guests, has two luxury bedrooms and a bunk room.

For the Gardeners we have Threave Gardens, which is part of the National Trust for Scotland, But we also have other Gardens to explore. For the Children, there are many places to go, Mabie Farm Park, The Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory and large play area's, Cream of Galloway Farm, with plenty to keep the kids happy, not to mention the Ice Cream which is made at the farm. The David Coulthard Motor Racing Museum. Creetown Gem Rock Museum. Many other places to see around our beautiful area. Our Rates are for Bed & Breakfast, But we also provide Bar Lunches and Evening Meals. We also have a good and very mixed Traditional Menu, with House wines available by the Glass, and our Quality Wines by the Bottle from our Wine Menu. We will do our best to help with your dietary needs, the more notice we have to give an alternative menu, we can then provide a much better service. We only have one room on the ground floor, which is a twin room the other rooms are accessed by stairs, We are also Children and Pet friendly. Dalbeattie (valley of the birch) is a small granite built town close to the Solway coast (4 miles) and the two beautiful inlets of Kippford and Rockcliffe. It is an ideal base for coastal, inland and forest walks of which there are many. Birdwatching is also a favourite in the area and Mersehead boasts some of the best hides in the country for wildfowl etc. At Lauriston by the side of Loch Ken, visitors can watch the Red Kites being fed every afternoon. The area is superb for cyclists as the roads, even at the height of the season, are lacking in traffic with many off the beaten track only having an odd tractor! We are close to one of the renowned 7 Stanes mountain bike tracks (2 minutes down the road) and provide garage lock up and hose pipe facilities.
